Get to Know More About Morbius Anti Hero Second Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU)

Besides the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), there is another shared universe that also features characters from Marvel Comics. The universe in question is Sony's Spider-Man Universe (SSU), focused on characters related to Spider-Man. After debuting through Venom, starring Tom Hardy (and successfully spawning a sequel), Sony has added another new character to its universe, Morbius.

Like Venom, Morbius (2022) initially appears as a supervillain for the web-slinger. But over time, he developed into an antihero who did not hesitate to use violence to uphold justice. This year,  friends can see his figure on the big screen through the film Morbius which is scheduled to be released on April 1, 2022. Directed by Daniel Espinosa (Safe House, Child 44, Life), the film features Jared Leto as the main star, supported by a number of other names such as Matt Smith, Adria Arjona, Jared Harris, Al Madrigal, and Tyrese Gibson. Well, before watching the film, it's better if  friends get to know the person in question more closely through the interesting info that has prepared. Check it out!

BORN AFTER SENSOR REVISION

Created in 1954 by the Comics Magazine Association of America, the Comics Code Authority (CCA) is a guideline containing content that is prohibited from appearing in comics, including things related to vampires. In 1971, the CCA was revised to allow supernatural things to appear. Taking advantage of this, Marvel wants to bring Dracula into the comics, but Stan Lee doesn't want to get hung up on supernatural themes.

Editor Roy Thomas, who was appointed to this task, included ideas from a sci-fi film he'd seen about a man who was turned into a vampire by radiation – and Morbius was born. Gil Kane, who was in charge of designing the character, used actor Jack Palance who played Count Dracula from the 1974 television series Bram Stoker's Dracula.

“VAMPIRE” BUT NOT VAMPIRE

Wanting to cure his rare blood disease, Michael Morbius underwent a procedure (therapy using vampire bat DNA plus electroshock) which gave him the characteristics of a vampire. From pale skin, having to consume human blood to stay alive, having strength beyond ordinary humans, being able to recover quickly, and so on. However, because it was created through the scientific method and not the supernatural, our hero doesn't have the weaknesses of a real vampire. Like immune to sunlight, can't change shape (into a bat for example), even its bite doesn't always make its victim turn into a vampire too, you know.

DIFFERENT BITE EFFECTS

Speaking of the effects of Morbius' bite, the best example can be found in the story arc "The Six Arms Saga," where Peter Parker actually has six pairs of hands while trying to eliminate his superpowers. When involved in the fight against Dr. Curt Connors aka Lizard, the Living Vampire bites his opponent before escaping. And as it turned out, a unique enzyme in his blood was able to restore Connors to his human form – even though his skin was still covered in scales! After getting a sample of Morbius' blood, Peter and the professor developed a serum that could restore them both.

BATTLE WITH THE BLADE

Familiar with Blade? In the Marvel universe, he is known as a vampire who is immune to sunlight and works as a vampire hunter. That's what led him to clash with Morbius - even though he wasn't actually a real vampire. It was recorded that the two blood-sucking creatures had faced off and fought several times, either when they were in normal condition or when one of them was controlled by another. Sometimes the Living Vampire can beat his opponent, but in some situations Blade is able to excel even though the opponent he is facing is stronger. Apart from Morbius, there are 2 other films that will air later in April, namely Sonic: Η Ταινία 2 (2022) and Η Χαμένη Πόλη (2022)

Did you know,  friends, that Morbius had formed a team called Legion of Monsters in 1976, along with Man-Thing and Werewolf by Night. They teamed up for the first time while investigating the appearance of an entity called Starseed, but then disbanded once everything was over. In 2010, Morbius contacted his two colleagues to re-form the Legion of Monsters team, and added two new members namely N'Kantu the Living Mummy and Manphibian.

Together, they fight to protect the monsters who are being hunted by the Hunter of Monster Special Force. The Legion of Monsters then sends the monsters it helps to the Morlock Tunnels, then creates a location where they can live in peace, Monster Metropolis.
