Paramount Pictures Finally Releases New Trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog 2

As promised, Paramount Pictures has finally released a new trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog 2. This promo video serves as a solid preview of what to expect from the film, which is due out on April 8. The trailer begins with a beautiful Hawaiian wedding ceremony, which is then interrupted by the sound of Tom's (James Marsden) phone ringing with a quirky ringtone that reminds fans of the "Green Hill Zone" theme song from the original video game.

On the other end of the phone call is Sonic who is snowboarding down a mountain and being chased by a swarm of robots. Tom then uses one of the portal rings from the first film to help Sonic. From there, the trailer introduces the plot of this sequel: Dr Robotnik is back and has found an infinite source of energy (which game fans will recognize as chaos emerald) that Sonic and his gang need to seize or the world will be destroyed. Robotnik also teamed up with Knuckles, a powerful echidna who became a formidable opponent for Ježek Sonic 2 (2022).

Ben Schwartz will return as the voice of Sonic along with Jim Carrey as Robotnik. The film will also reprise James Marsden and Tika Sumpter as Tom and Maddie Wachowskis, and Lee Majdoub will return as Agent Stone. Other cast members in the film are Natasha Rothwell, Adam Pally, and Shemar Moore. Idris Elba will voice Knuckles the Echidna, who is one of the fan-favorite characters from the video game series.

The synopsis and plot for Sonic the Hedgehog 2

“After settling in Green Hills, Sonic was ready for more freedom, and Tom and Maddie agreed to leave him at home while they went on vacation. However, not long after they left, Dr. Robotnik is back, this time with a new partner, Knuckles, in search of the emerald that has the power to build and destroy civilization. Sonic then teams up with his best friend, Tails, and together they embark on an adventure and journey to find the emerald before it falls into the wrong hands."

The sequel is directed by Jeff Fowler from a script written by Pat Casey and Josh Miller, with Neal H. Mortiz, Toby Ascher, and Toru Nakahara all returning to produce while Hajime Satomi, Haruki Satomi, and Tim Miller return to executive producers
