The long wait has finally paid off. Maybe you are also one of the people who want to see the action of private detective Hercule Poirot in Death on the Nile. Death on the Nile is one of the films that has fallen victim to the pandemic, its release was postponed several times due to the surge in Covid-19 cases. In addition, the director, Kenneth Branagh, also has the principle that his films should only be shown in theaters. Because considering that during this pandemic, many films have finally decided to air on digital platforms such as Netflix, Amazon prime, Hulu and many others.

Smrt na Nilu 2022 is a sequel or sequel to Murder on the Orient Express. Because if you remember, at the ending of Murder on the Orient Express detective Hercule Poirot got a report that he had an assignment to go to Egypt. Even more surprising, there he had to investigate the deaths that occurred on the Nile.

This film is still an adaptation of the novel by Agathe Christie of the same title. This film is still played by Kenneth Branagh as Hercule Poirot and other actors who are not random actors or actresses such as Gal Gadot, Armie Hammer, Ali Fazal, Tom Bateman, Letitia Wright, Russell Brand, Emma Mackey and many more.

Until one night, when they and their friends were sailing on the Nile, Linnet died suddenly from a gunshot wound to her left temple. This incident forced Poirot to act to find and arrest the perpetrators of the murder of this wealthy businessman. As in the first film, we are invited to guess who the real killer is through the alibis given by the passengers and crew, which also serve as clues to catch the real killer. This film shows a beautiful view of the desert, and don't forget to include Egyptian landmarks such as the Pyramids and Abu Simbel which look so beautiful.

Synopsis of Death on the Nile

Death on the Nile begins with Jacqueline de Bellefort (Emma Mackey) meeting with Simon Doyle (Armie Hammer) who then fall in love and establish a relationship. However, both of them began to struggle when poverty approached.

To overcome this, Bellefort introduces his partner with Linnet Ridgeway (Gal Gadot) to get a job. This woman was so rich that Doyle fell in love and was willing to leave Bellefort. Doyle and Ridgeway finally decided to get married. The couple then went on a honeymoon using a boat down the Nile. There, the two meet Hercule Poirot (Kenneth Branagh), a detective who wants to vacation in Egypt.

The warm, cheerful, and loving atmosphere suddenly changed when Poirot found a passenger shot dead the next day. He was one of a recently married couple, Doyle and Ridgeway. Poirot, who originally wanted to relax, was entrusted with investigating the case which was considered murder. All of the ship's passengers are potential perpetrators, so he and his partner, Bouc (Tom Bateman) must conduct an investigation.

In terms of audio and sound effects, this film presents classical jazz music in the style of the 1930s, sung by one of the actresses who plays a famous singer. The songs that he brings feel fit together with the film. It's not a crime mystery film. Its name would be if there weren't any blasphemous plot twists. So, of course this film contains a plot twist that you may never have thought of. I personally think this film deserves a 9/10 rating from all aspects in it.
