REVIEW MOVIE: Morbius Director's Works Daniel Espinosa
Morbius is proof that there is no guarantee that Marvel Comics adaptations are always of good quality. Director Daniel Espinosa seemed to be in a hurry to introduce Morbius so that the story felt bland. Morbius tells the story of Michael Morbius (Jared Leto), a genius doctor and scientist who suffers from a rare blood disease. He conducts secret research that turns him into a vampire-like creature.
Morbius actually has a strong story capital. The character appears several times in the Spider-Man comics. Not only that, Morbius also has the ability to echolocation, emitting and re-capturing sound reflections from surrounding objects. This capability also functions as a navigation tool. Unfortunately, all the capital is not invested properly. Morbius presents a story that is less memorable in the minds of the audience.
The director seemed to have difficulty working on the beginning of the story of Morbius as a vampire anti-hero. Thus, there is no special impression or deeper introduction, especially for viewers who are not familiar with the character. Espinosa is like patching up a number of aspects at once, even unrelated ones, in shaping the plot of the film. Some parts feel missed so that there are so many questions when watching.

Milo's character is an example of that. Milo is Morbius' best friend as well as the main villain. Initially, he was depicted as an orphan and suffering from the same disease as Morbius. However, the character changes are not clearly developed. Milo also doesn't seem to have a strong motive to become a Morbius film villain. Milo can still be slightly 'saved' thanks to Matt Smith who can bring the character's eccentricity to life.
Milo is just one example of Espinosa's haste in wrapping up the Morbius film. The emotions of each character cannot be connected or conveyed to the audience. The development of the character of Morbius, who is the main character of the film, is also presented less maturely. The anti-hero is not attached to Morbius at all in the film. Morbius' dialogue with other characters seems lifeless, there is no raging inner conflict, everything really feels like a breeze.
Jared Leto's transformation into a Living Vampire couldn't save the disappointingly executed storyline of the Morbius film. Weaknesses not only emerged from the storyline, the film's CGI was also unsatisfactory. However, it can still be forgiven with an eye-pleasing cinematography.

In general, Morbius failed to meet the audience's expectations. The introduction to Morbius through the big screen did not feel so memorable. However, that disappointment was slightly healed when watching two post-credit scenes from the film Morbius. These two scenes give Morbius the opportunity to 'atone for sins' to appear as one of Marvel's iconic anti-heroes.
