Review of Comic Character Morbius as One of Spiderman's "Enemies"

Morbius is one of the comic characters who will accompany Venom as one of the "enemies" of Spiderman. Interestingly, this Morbius character will show another side of the Marvel world which is somewhat different from the previous Marvel films, after finally undergoing certain adjustments to enter the film media.

The Morbius (2022) film itself will focus a lot on and explain the reasons why the main character, Michael Morbius, played by Jared Leto has many reasons to keep mankind from the "monsters" he created. Struggling with the side of idealism and the side of the desire to survive, this conflict is trying to be shown by the actor, when the audience expects something deeper than this. The film itself feels more of a horror genre theme and tells the story of how a scientist tries to find a cure for a rare disease that is in his blood. But inadvertently he turned into a Vampire who then "devoured" the criminals.

As is common knowledge, Morbius is a comic book character known to be Spider-Man's nemesis, but Sony seems to have made Morbius the antihero in their adaptation. In this case, it can be said to be like Venom. This is what causes the opinion of the audience to be divided, with those who like the depth of character by Jared Leto, and those who want more action scenes, rather than just the same repetitive scenes that are often found in films. -films with vampire themes that have been circulating.

As for the mystery and horror elements shown here, it seems that they prioritize human psychological elements, by applying the fear of the audience's own thoughts. This is something that is very interesting, for viewers who don't really like "jump scare" scenes for certain scenes.

The script for the Morbius film written by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless itself does not provide anything new, in terms of horror or twist, but seems to bridge the comic side with the demands of the Spiderman universe, especially the Spiderman film No Way Home.

At the end of the film, the audience will also be presented with many possibilities for films with the Spiderman Universe, which of course involves the three players who previously appeared in Spiderman No Way Home. What's interesting here, of course, is the appearance of Michael Keaton's character, with his interesting sentence, "discover who you're meant to be," . This sentence along with the appearance of the "after credict scene" which shows the appearance of the characters in the comics, of course, indeed attracts the audience's interest, to want to deepen their curiosity about the character of Morbius.
