The Batman Opening Scene Inspired By Alfred Hitchcock
The Batman director, Matt Reeves, revealed the inspiration for the opening scene of his latest film. He said the opening scene of The Batman was inspired by Alfred Hitchcock, who was nicknamed the master of suspense.
Reeves wants the audience to put themselves into characters in his film. So, that's why Reeves opened The Batman scene with The Riddler's perspective as the main antagonist who was spying on his victims through a pair of binoculars. "I was very interested in Alfred Hitchcock's storytelling because watching movies is voyeurism, right? We all see people's lives on screen," explained Matt Reeves during an interview with CNET, Friday (22/4).
"I came up with the idea of putting the audience, in this case, on the Riddler's binoculars and having him spy from the start of the film. That would be an unexpected way to start The Batman film." Matt Reeves admitted, the opening scene of The Batman is not like the final product seen in theaters. He initially made the opening scene with a lot of crazy action.

"But starting with Ave Maria [a classic by Franz Schubert], it just blows you away," he says. "You start to realize, 'Oh, something bad is going to happen'. So, it will bring you into that mindset," he explained. The Batman is the latest film directed by Matt Reeves. The film stars Robert Pattinson as The Caped Crusader aka Bruce Wayne.
The film was considered a global success. In the first week of its premiere, The Batman managed to pocket US $ 248 million or Rp. 3.6 trillion globally. Until the third week of broadcast, The Batman reached US $ 598 million or equivalent to Rp. 8.6 trillion globally. Meanwhile, the film budget distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures only need US$ 200 million or around Rp. 2.9 trillion.
Warner Bros. Releases Joker Scene Played by Barry Keoghan, Removed From The Batman Movie
Warner Bros. released a deleted scene from The Batman on Thursday (24/3). The five-minute video reveals the figure of the Joker, played by Barry Keoghan, as an answer to rumors that are busy on social media. In the video, Batman is seen at Arkham Asylum and meets the Joker, who is in Arkham prison uniform. The Caped Crusader came to find out about the Riddler.
"Almost our [meeting] first anniversary, isn't it?" said the Joker at the beginning of the conversation. "This is a serial killer. I want to know your views," Batman replied. This conversation indicates that Batman has interacted with the Joker before. Batman then urges the Joker to tell the reason the Riddler kills the elite in Gotham.
He also asked for the Joker's view on why the Riddler always left riddles addressed to the Caped Crusader. However, the Joker did not know this and instead asked Batman back. "Maybe he's your fan?" said the Joker. "Or maybe he has a grudge against you too. Maybe you are the main dish." The Joker then mocks Batman by suspecting that there is a part of Batman that agrees with Riddler's decision. As is known, the Riddler killed the corrupt elite of Gotham and made the city miserable.

"I think deep down, you're just scared, because you don't believe he [Riddler] is wrong," said the Joker who then dissolved into his trademark laugh. Rumors of the Joker's appearance as a cameo have been widely discussed on social media since The Batman premiered. Barry Keoghan is also the most heavily rumored to be playing the iconic Gotham villain.
Keoghan was also asked about his role as the Joker when he visited the Comic Con Middle East event in Abu Dhabi some time ago. At that time, he was asked about his involvement in The Batman. "I can't say anything," said Keoghan as he left.
