Why Pig is One of Nicolas Cage's Best Films

The name Nicolas Cage has been very well known in the Hollywood film industry. Arguably, he is a very prolific actor who always moves from project to project, playing new characters across all kinds of genres to give fans a variety of pleasures. Cage recently spoke about his thoughts on the films he has worked on. Recently, the actor took part in a Reddit AMA to promote his latest film “The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent”. When a fan asked him to choose three of his films to be preserved for future generations, he replied "Bringing Out the Dead", "Pig", and "Leaving Las Vegas".

When another fan of "Leaving Las Vegas" asked him to share more thoughts on the film, Cage confirmed that it was one of his top three films, along with "Pig" and "Bringing Out the Dead". "I think Leaving Las Vegas, Pig and Bringing Out the Dead are three of my favorite shows from my own work. I haven't seen Leaving Las Vegas recently, but that movie and Elizabeth Shue's work on it is what I wanted." I want to continue," he said.

In another response, the actor specifically stated that the critically acclaimed film "Pig" featured his favorite performance. He considered it his best film, on par with Martin Scorsese's "Bringing Out the Dead". "Again, Pig is my favorite look," he continued. "And I think that film, along with Scorsese's Bringing Out the Dead are arguably my two best films overall."

Michael Sarnoski makes his directorial debut with 2021's "Pig", featuring Cage in the lead. The film received widespread acclaim and has become Cage's highest-rated live-action film on Rotten Tomatoes with 96 percent. "Morbius" has entered its second week at the box office as the entry for the Marvel comics adaptation. The film was released after a two-year delay on April 1, 2022, and tells the story of Doctor Michael Morbius (Jared Leto) who after experimenting on himself to cure a rare disease, begins to develop vampire powers.

The film opened at number 1 at the box office with 39 million dollars domestically and 45 million internationally for a worldwide opening weekend of 84 million. Despite opening at number 1, the future looked very bleak for "Morbius" as the film was heavily criticized by critics.

Morbius Movie Becomes Movie With Massive Drop In Box Office Week 2

Even today, "Morbius" sits with 17 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. Faced with stiff competition in April from high-profile releases like "Sonic the Hedgehog 2" and "Fantastic Beast: The Secrets of Dumbledore", it looks unlikely that "Morbius" will come close to the success Sony achieved with its "Spider-Man" spinoff like " Venom". Morbius had a massive drop at the box office its second weekend with 9.9 million earnings. According to Forbes, that was a 73.9 percent drop from the previous weekend, which was the largest for any Marvel Comic adaptation, beating the previous record holder, "X-Men: Dark Phoenix," which was down 71.5 percent.

"Morbius" has earned 126 million worldwide with a reported budget of between 75 and 83 million. However, it doesn't take into account how much Sony spends on marketing the film and how the profits from international gross revenue are divided. This condition makes the future of the character "Morbius" in doubt. Even today, "Morbius" sits with 17 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.
