Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick will return to star in A Simple Favor
The sequel to 2018's black comedy thriller A Simple Favor is currently in development on Amazon and Lionsgate, with Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick returning to reprise their roles. The sequel will also see the return of director Paul Feig and screenwriter Jessica Sharzer. Feig will also serve as co-producer with Laura Fischer, with Sharzer also serving as executive producer.
The first film is based on the 2017 novel of the same name by Darcey Bell. The story follows a blogger and single mother (Kendrick) who befriends a rich mother (Live) at her son's elementary school. But when his new friend goes missing, the blogger decides to investigate the case for himself. But he later discovers that things are not exactly as they seem.

Although Lively and Kendrick will return, it's unclear how they will discuss the film's ending, which saw Lively's Emily Nelson sentenced to 20 years in prison after it was revealed she was behind the murders. It's worth noting that the original novel didn't have a sequel, so anyone can guess where the new film will go.
The original film did have an open conclusion that left fans immediately wondering if there would be a sequel. With the film being a critical and commercial success, earning nearly $100 million worldwide and with a certified new rating of 84% on Rotten Tomatoes, it seems like there's no need to think that a sequel is on its way. Especially with two stars as big as Kendrick and Lively.
