Difficult Conditions While Filming The Nortman (2022) Made Taylor-Joy Dizzy

"The Northman" appears as the latest film to receive positive reviews on the Rotten Tomatoes website. "The Northman" sees Anya Taylor-Joy reunite with "The Witch" writer-director Robert Eggers to tell the brutal and epic tale of Amleth, a Viking prince played by Alexander Skarsgard, on a quest to avenge the murder of his father.

Eggers are known for their attention to detail. Likewise with "Severan (2022)". Steeped in mysticism and folklore, it was filmed under extreme conditions in Ireland and Iceland, avoiding green screens for filming locations.

They fight with endless mud and ice, howling wind on frozen mountain peaks, and choreograph battles on active volcanoes. Taylor-Joy has previously noted how the grueling condition made her dizzy.

In a recent interview with Total Film (via GamesRadar), Taylor-Joy and Skarsgard talked about how miraculously they survived filming. At one point, Taylor-Joy's boots froze in the mud, and Skarsgard spent four days naked in the volcano filming the same fight scene.

"I remember there was a very specific moment where I saw all the greenery of Ireland," he explained. "If you're ever lucky enough to visit it, it's a very specific greenery. It will be an impressive sight, but it will completely turn around."

"I'm really excited about it. Both filmmakers have real ambitions to present compelling images to audiences," he continued. "The people they attract to the experience are people who share a vision so you're ready to do whatever it takes to make it happen."

But no one complained much during the process, even if the long days only resulted in one scene because they firmly believed in the story. The film is slated for release on April 22, after that on May 5, Doctor Strange 2 v mnohovesmíre šialenstva (2022) will be released.

The Secret of Alexander Skarsgård's Strong Body To Learn The Characters In The Northman

Exploring a character in a film does require extra effort from the actors and actresses. Alexander Skarsgård is no exception, the Swedish actor who was lined up to play Amleth in the film “The Northman” which was released at the end of last April.

The film, directed by Robert Eggers, tells the journey of Amleth, a Viking prince who wants revenge on Fjolnir because he killed his father. His role as a Nordic human figure who is known for his stout and tall posture, requires Skarsgård to shape his body as well.

So that the feel of the character he plays becomes more real, Skarsgård is willing to do extra hard physical training. The trick is to hook up with his former physical trainer when he played Tarzan, Magnus Lygdback.

Skarsgård's secret to building a stout body was then leaked by Lygdback during an interview with Variety at the end of last April. Lygdback, who accompanied the actor, admitted that he formed Skarsgård's body in order to "inherit" the spirits of wolves and bears.
