Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness Finally Releases New Teaser With Captain Carter Seen Against Scarlet Witch

A new teaser for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has been released by Marvel Studios. And they surprisingly revealed the presence of the fan-favorite superhero from the animated series What If…?, Captain Carter, who looks set to be part of the highly anticipated sequel. In addition, this new teaser also confirms Patrick Stweart's role as Professor X who is a member of the Illuminati. The presence of this new teaser will surely make fans wonder who else is hidden in Doctor Strange's latest adventure story, also known as the Master of Mystic Arts.

Focusing on the Illuminati version of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, this new teaser shows Captain Carter throwing his iconic shield, which bears the hallmark of the British flag without showing his face. He is seen battling Wanda or the Scarlet Witch in this brief scene. While Marvel Studios hasn't officially announced Hayley Atwell's involvement yet, this moment seems to indicate the actress is returning to play a new version of Peggy Carter, a role she's played throughout the entire Captain America trilogy.

Patrick Stewart's presence has been teased several times in previous trailers and promos for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022), when Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) is brought before the secret interdimensional council known as the Illuminati. The Illuminati from Marvel Comics are a team of some of the most influential heroes on the planet, who make decisions that will shape the future of humanity. Professor X is a classic member of the Illuminati, which has fans questioning whether Stewart's voice was indeed part of the film's first trailer. For those who need to refresh their memory, Stewart played the lead Mutant in the pre-MCU X-Men franchise on Fox.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will follow up on the phenomenal success of Spider-Man: No Way Home by diving deeper into the multiverse, apparently with grave consequences for Doctor Strange and his friends. Fans will get a darker treat to the MCU and a feel for the franchise's first real horror film as Strange learns how dangerous the multiverse can be.

Joining Benedict Cumberbatch are the return of MCU alumni Elizabeth Olsen, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Benedict Wong, and Rachel McAdams, who reprise their roles as Wanda/Scarlet Witch, Karl Mordo, Wong, and Dr. Christine Palmer. The film will also feature and introduce the live-action debut of Marvel hero America Chavez, who will be played by newcomer Xochitl Gomez (The Baby-Sitters Club).

The film is directed by Sam Raimi (Spider-Man trilogy) from a script written by Emmy-winning writer Michael Waldron (Loki). The sequel is expected to have ties to the events of WandaVision, Loki, and Spider-Man: No Way Home.
