Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness Has Seen a Decline in Box Office Revenue in the United States (US)
After premiering on May 5, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is now entering its second week of screening. Unfortunately, last weekend, this film experienced a drastic decline in revenue at the United States (US) box office.
A continuation of the long story of the Marvel cinema universe, this second Doctor Strange film invites fans to navigate a multi-universe full of madness. Successfully grossing $187 million, aka IDR 2.5 trillion, in its first weekend, Doctor Strange 2 in the Multiverse of Madness (2022) was named one of the films with the biggest opening weekend during the pandemic. Unfortunately, the fantastic numbers that were achieved in the first week of Multiverse of Madness could not last long at the Box Office.
On the second weekend yesterday, which was on May 13-15, this film recorded a decline in revenue of 67.5% due to revenue which only amounted to USD61 million or IDR890 billion. Even so, when compared to other films currently showing, دكتور سترينج في جنون الإكوان المتعددة (2022) still manages to prove itself superior. Entering the 20th week of 2022, the top three positions at the US box office haven't changed much; led by Multiverse of Madness, followed by The Bad Guys, and closed by Sonic the Hedgehog 2.

However, the fourth place at the Box Office last weekend was won by the film Firestarter, starring Zac Efron; debuted with an inaugural week of revenue of USD 3.8 million, aka IDR 55 billion. The presence of Firestarter also dropped the third Fantastic Beasts film to sixth position and made the film the worst release in the Harry Potter franchise.
Towards the end of May, one big film coming to the big screen is Top Gun: Maverick, which has been delayed by three years. Can this pilot film bring down Doctor Strange when it airs, or will it stagnate because the release date has changed dozens of times?
