Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness Film Reaches US$7.9 million or around Rp115.8 billion in Indonesia

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has raised at least US$7.9 million or around Rp115.8 billion (US$1=Rp14,627.25) in Indonesia. Based on Box Office Mojo data on Friday (13/5), that number was achieved from the May 4-8 broadcast.

This achievement makes Doctor Strange 2 the highest-grossing Hollywood film in Indonesia in 2022. The Batman, which aired about two months earlier, collected more than US$2.6 million or around Rp. 38.3 billion in the period 2-6 March.



  

Based on Box Office Mojo data, Eternals was in first place with the highest earnings in the first week of broadcast, November 10-14, with US$3.4 million. However, that number is also still below the achievement of Doctor Strange 2.

Based on a Variety report on Sunday (8/5) US time, Doctor Strange 2 recorded revenues of up to US $ 185 million or around Rp. 2.6 trillion (US $ 1 = Rp. 14,498) in the North American domestic market.

This record puts Doctor Strange 2 as the film with the fourth largest weekend premiere for a Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) film. The film, directed by Sam Raimi, is under Avengers: Endgame (2019), Avengers: Infinity War (2018), and Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021).

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is the second Doctor Strange (2016) saga and will take place after Spider-Man: No Way Home, WandaVision, Láska hory přenáší (2022) and Loki.

Benedict Cumberbatch returns to the film as Doctor Strange, alongside Benedict Wong as Wong, Rachel McAdams as Christine Palmer, and Chiwetel Ejiofor as Karl Mordo.


In addition, the sequel to Doctor Strange (2016) also features Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda/Scarlet Witch and Xochitl Gomez as America Chavez.
