Ne Zha's animation film will be in production soon

A sequel to the animated film Ne Zha (2019) is reportedly being prepared. The news circulated after Ne Zha 2 entered the monthly newsletter about new film projects registered with the China Film Administration (CFA).

That made the sequel to Ne Zha instantly make headlines on social media platforms. As reported by Xinhua and reported by the Global Times some time ago, the hashtag Ne Zha 2 has received 110 million views on Weibo since last Friday.

On the Chinese microblogging site, netizens can't wait to see the young hero on the big screen again and express the hope that the film will have a higher quality title than its predecessor.

There's currently no official word on a release date, but according to Douban, a sequel to Ne Zha will air in 2024. Douban is a popular forum specifically for reviews of movies, dramas, books, and music.

The sequel reportedly follows the events of the first film in 2019, where teacher Ne Zha will be faced with the tough task of reconstructing the bodies of Ne Zha and Ao Bing, the son of the Dragon King.

Ne Zha (2019) is the highest-grossing animated film in China to date with revenues of more than 5 billion yuan. The Chinese animated film is a loose adaptation of the story of the mythological character of the same name from the novel Fengshen Yanyi of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), or The Investiture of the Gods.

The film is directed by Yang Yu or Jiaozi, a medical school graduate turned animator. Yang Yu's film differs from previous television dramas and film adaptations, both in personality and appearance. In Yang Yu's work, the main character is depicted as a lovable challenging underdog and must overcome prejudice and dark fate to become a hero.

According to the monthly bulletin, Yang Yu, who co-wrote the screenplay and directed the upcoming first film, wrote the sequel to Ne Zha. The new film will be co-produced by Chengdu Coco Cartoon and Chengdu-based animation studio Beijing Enlight Pictures, the main production company behind Ne Zha.

Ne Zha brings more hope to China's animated filmmaking industry after its market has long been occupied by small-budget films for minors, with only a few animated films aimed at adults.

After Starring in Two Films Actress Lea Seydoux Returns To Cannes Film Festival

Actress Lea Seydoux has returned to the Cannes Film Festival after starring in two well-received films, David Cronenberg's "Crimes of the Future" and Mia Hansen-Love's "One Fine Morning". In addition, Seydoux also attended the 75th anniversary event for the festival.

Seydoux has grown accustomed to juggling several different movie worlds. While working on the tender sibling drama, "Sister", she was recalled for a reshoot in "Mission: Impossible-Ghost Protocol". Years later, the two films he starred in at Cannes presented an even stranger challenge.

Seydoux was halfway through playing the role of a sensitive single mother when "One Fine Morning" took a short break and she began playing a futuristic performance artist performing onstage surgeries in "Crimes of the Future". "It's crazy. But it's also the reason I love this job. You have to adapt all the time," he told Indie Wire.

Seydoux further said that he was director-oriented when sorting out the offers he would get for roles. For example, working with Mia Hansen-Love, one of the most famous directors in France, is not a difficult decision to make.

After receiving the script, Seydoux said he found an easy way to immerse himself in the character, who developed a relationship with a married man while also caring for his dying father. "It's exciting to have two very powerful experiences happening at the same time," he said of his character in "One Fine Morning".

"She has a job, she's a mother, and we feel that she is struggling in life." "I was very touched by it and felt that I could carry a certain level of emotion."

One of Seydoux's upcoming projects is a new adaptation of the erotic novel Emmanuelle, with Audrey Diwan as director. Seydoux will also appear in Bertrand Bonello's sci-fi thriller "The Beast" alongside George MacKay. "I make films that I want to watch. This is the only way I choose," he concluded.
