Sonic the Hedgehog 2 The Blue Hedgehog Review That Is Fun To Watch

The blue hedgehog returns to action on the big screen with Sonic the Hedgehog 2 after it was first adapted into a live-action hybrid in 2020. This film continues Sonic's adventure story after he arrives on Earth and is cared for by the Wachowski couple. Robotnik is also back on the scene to mess up the world. Still family-oriented, this film is presented with a light story, full of comedy, and action. Much has been improved in this film from the first film. One of them is the expansion of the Sonic universe. The film builds on the world of Sonic by featuring more than one character from the famous game. This film introduces two new characters from Sonic's world, namely Tails and Knuckles. The actions of these three strange creatures are the center of entertainment in this sequel to Sonic. They both show their respective abilities and fight to the maximum level. Everything is intensified with the presence of Robotnik.

In this film, Sonic (Ben Schwartz) tries to find his identity. With the abilities he has, he also acts like Batman who operates to quell crime at night. Instead of helping, Sonic often causes trouble. His adoptive father, Tom Wachowski (James Marsden), says that being a hero requires a big responsibility, like Uncle Ben's advice to Peter Parker. Tom also asked Sonic to learn what responsibility is before taking action.

Tom and his wife, Maddie, then travel to Hawaii to attend the wedding of Maddie's cousin, Rachel. They left Sonic alone at home for the weekend. Sonic also enjoys his time at home by, of course, making a mess, before the real mess comes. Robotnik (Jim Carrey) appears with Knuckles, the last edkidna of his tribe, and hunts down Sonic. Sonic, who doesn't know why he was being hunted and how Robotnik can return to earth again, runs away. Luckily, he was later rescued by Tails, a two-tailed fox. They then save themselves while wondering what caused them to be hunted.

Tails later said that Knuckles was hunting for a gem from his tribe. The gem turned out to be hidden by Longclaw. A map Longclaw left for Sonic is the key to all the chaos. Sonic and Tails then set off in search of the gem.

The plot of this film Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (2022) is simple and has more comedy content than seriousness. Sonic and Knuckles' interactions, though intense, are more laughable. Sonic is not a very serious character, while Knuckles has a short axis. He always seemed gassy when he spoke and was very stubborn. Idris Elba's voice fits Knuckles' character. What makes this film feel lacking is the Robotnik side. He's too rigid and doesn't show his human side. He is the most selfish human ever and maybe Stone is the only human who can be attached to him. Even then, Robotnik did not treat it well. Robotnik will likely be Jim Carrey's last appearance as an actor. After Chris Rock's slapping incident by Will Smith at the Oscars some time ago, Jim said he would retire from acting after criticizing the incident. If that was his last appearance, then Jim did not disappoint. Robotnik is still intimidating, silly, and entertaining.

Children will probably enjoy this film because of the friendship theme it brings. This theme and the way it is told are very typical of children's films. What happens in it is neither too much nor too little. Yes, there are indeed a number of explosive scenes that will make people roll their eyes, but this is an entertainment film, not to be taken seriously. The Sonic Universe is still looking for a foothold to develop. However, they seem to have found their way in this second film. This post-credits scene clearly confirms the construction of an even wider Sonic universe.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 will feel exciting if you watch it without any expectations other than looking for entertainment. This film is funny, entertaining, and fun in terms of action. This Sonic sequel is also more like fan service to satisfy fans' desire to see more characters from the game. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 hits theaters today, Wednesday (6/4).
