The Movie "Top Gun: Maverick" Becomes Tom Cruise's Starting Point In The Box Office World

"Top Gun: Maverick" has managed to get a satisfying reaction from the audience since its release at the box office not too long ago. Its record-breaking success is considered by financial expert Scott Sheridan as a turning point for the box office "life".

In a new analysis shared by Sheridan, CEO of Deliciousworks, financial experts discuss what the historic debut of "Top Gun: Maverick" means for theaters. While Sheridan doesn't think a single film has the ability to save an entire industry on its own, the "Top Gun" sequel has the potential to inspire a lot of hope and may well be a significant turning point for cinema.

"I've been a bit waiting to see if people can be pulled back into theaters. Not that I wonder if people feel safe considering COVID-19, but if they're willing to pay," he said. "Watching a movie for a family of 4 can easily cost up to $100 if you factor in food and drink."

For him, the costs incurred are large enough to watch a movie with one family. However, he believes that the latest Tom Cruise film will really give a positive stimulus to the box office.

"That's a huge expense, especially when you realize that you can spend $120 on a streaming service for a year and watch those movies at home," he continued. "But Top Gun really does give cinemas some reason to be optimistic."

Furthermore, he discussed "Jurassic World Dominion" which will be released in the near future. "I'm not sure one film can save the entire industry but it can validate people who still enjoy watching movies on the big screen. We'll see if the new Jurassic Park can keep the momentum going," he concluded.

After years of delays mainly due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the long-awaited sequel to Tony Scott's 1986 classic "Top Gun" finally debuted in theaters last weekend on May 27 and broke many box office records. "Top Gun 2" surpassed Pirates of the Caribbean 3 as the highest-grossing Memorial Day weekend film of all time.
