Dakota Fanning And Denzel Washington To Play Together In 'The Equalizer'

An update is coming from the "The Equalizer" franchise. Denzel Washington has made a name for himself in the "The Equalizer" franchise since the first film hit screens nearly 10 years ago.




The latest news is regarding the casting of the cast. Washington will reportedly be joining his "Man on Fire" co-star Dakota Fanning. Deadline revealed today that the two will be joining forces in "The Equalizer 3", which will be helmed by the original filmmaker, Antoine Fuqua.

The "Equalizer" film series introduces audiences to former Marine Robert McCall. Without giving too much away, the first film features Robert protecting a teenage prostitute from members of the brutal Russian mafia.

The second film shows the story of him taking revenge on the people who killed his friend. The former was based on the 1980s CBS hit series of the same name, and both films were box office hits with the former earning 194 million globally and the latter earning $190 million globally.

For this installment, the new story in the life surrounding Robert McCall will be written by Richard Wenk, who also wrote the screenplays for the other two films in the series. "The Equalizer 3" is being produced by Todd Black for Escape Artists, Jason Blumenthal, Steve Tisch, and Washington.

Along with its popularity as a feature film, the story received a television remake on its original network CBS. The series, starring Queen Latifah, has just been appointed for the third and fourth seasons.

Meanwhile, a Washington and Fanning once shared incredible chemistry from their time together on "Man on Fire", where Washington's character took on the fatherly role and fiercely protected Fanning's child character at the time.

For now, the plot of "The Equalizer 3" remains a secret. For now, the film is awaiting a release date for September 1, 2023.
