Neill Blomkamp Targeted Sony Pictures For Film Adaptation Gran Turismo
After the success of Uncharted, Sony Pictures and PlayStation Productions will partner again for a film adaptation of the popular racing game Gran Turismo. However, because this film project is still in the early stages of development, so little is known about the plot or whether it will be animated or live-action. And now a report from Deadline reveals that Sony is eyeing Neill Blomkamp to direct the film.
Neill Blomkamp himself is a filmmaker who is best known for his science fiction action films such as District 9 and Elysium. He also spent several years developing the live-action film HALO, but internal politics between Universal, Fox Studios, and Microsoft derailed production of the film. After several other failed projects, including Alien 5 and the sequel to Robocop Legacy, Blomkamp stated that he would no longer be working on big-budget films and would focus on short films.
