Miles Teller admits that he discussed Top Gun 3 with Tom Cruise

Actor Miles Teller has stated that he is ready to be involved in the development of the Top Gun universe. He even admitted that he had discussed Top Gun 3 with Tom Cruise, the original star of the film since 1986.


"(Top Gun 3) would be great, but it depends on TC (Tom Cruise)," Miles Teller said as reported by ET on Thursday (7/7).

"That depends on Tom. I've discussed that with him. Let's just wait." Even though he doesn't know about the fate of Top Gun 3, Teller is sure and knows that he has a special relationship with Tom Cruise that makes him send a happy birthday message to the Maverick.

On several occasions Teller has expressed his joy in being involved in Top Gun: Maverick, Tom Cruise's first US$1 billion film. Teller said it was a great experience.

"I've never really experienced anything like this in my life. It's an amazing feeling," said Teller. Top Gun Maverick managed to pocket US $ 1.006 billion or equivalent to Rp. 14.9 trillion (US $ 1 = Rp. the first 2022 film to reach that figure.

Top Gun Maverick is also the second film in the pandemic era to reach that figure after Spider-Man: No Way Home which pocketed US $ 1.9 billion. Meanwhile, this film is also Tom Cruise's first film to reach US$1 billion at the global box office. Previously, Tom Cruise's highest-grossing film was Mission: Impossible-Fallout (2018) for US$791.1 million.

Top Gun: Maverick is the first sequel to come 36 years after the release of the original Top Gun (1986). This film focuses on the story of Captain Pete 'Maverick' Mitchell (Tom Cruise) who returns to serve in the US Navy and trains talented young fighter pilots to become members of the Top Gun unit.

In the plot, Maverick must train these talented pilots to carry out dangerous missions in a fairly short time. Top Gun: Maverick is directed by Joseph Kosinski and will be a nostalgic journey for action lovers Cruise aka Maverick as a pilot.

Taika Waititi Forgot Natalie Portman Was In Star Wars

Director Taika Waititi made one confession. He forgot that Natalie Portman had starred in the Star Wars prequel trilogy as Padme Amidala. In fact, Waititi is trying to get Portman to join in the Star Wars film he is working on. This conversation occurred while the two were on the set of Thor: Love and Thunder.

"Natalie (Portman) asked me, 'What do you do next?' Then I said, 'I'm working on something for Star Wars. Have you ever wanted to be in a Star Wars movie?'" Waititi asked Portman when interviewed by Rolling Stone, as reported by Screen Rant, Wednesday (6/7).

"He said, 'I've been in Star Wars movies'. I forgot about that," said Waititi admitted. Natalie Portman has starred in three Star Wars films for episodes I, II, and III. She plays Padme Amidala, Anakin Skywalker's partner.

In Star Wars: The Phantom Menace (Episode I), the character Portman is introduced as the Queen of Naboo. Then, in episode II entitled Attack of the Clones, he begins to fall in love with Anakin, played by Hayden Christensen.

Later, Padme died giving birth to her twins, Luke and Leia, in Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith (Episode III). Meanwhile, Taika Waititi is officially lined up to direct and write the script for the latest Star Wars film. However, until now, the title, storyline, and release schedule for the Star Wars film are unknown.

Waititi will be assisted by a line of well-known filmmakers, Krysty Wilson-Cairns (1917, Last Night in Soho), who will be in charge of screenplay.

"Academy Award winner Taika Waititi, who recently won Best Adapted Screenplay and directed the final episode of The Mandalorian on Disney+, will direct and co-wrote a Star Wars film for release in theaters," reads an announcement on the official Star Wars website.

Taika Waititi and Natalie Portman are working together on Thor: Love and Thunder. Waititi, who occupies the director's chair, directs Portman who plays Jane Foster aka Mighty Thor. Thor: Love and Thunder is already showing in Indonesian cinemas starting today, Wednesday (6/7).
