Top Gun: Maverick Becomes Paramount Pictures' highest-grossing film, beating Titanic

Tom Cruise's latest appearance at the box office has proven to be a huge success. The 60-year-old actor's latest film, Top Gun: Maverick, became Paramount Pictures' biggest hit.

Fans of the first Top Gun movie waited over 35 years for the sequel. Ticket sales and reviews show that the film is worth the wait for fans. In nearly seven weeks since its early theatrical release in late May, Top Gun: Maverick has grossed $601.91 million domestically, becoming Paramount Picture's highest-grossing domestic film in its first run.

Paramount Pictures president and CEO Brian Robbins said Top Gun: Maverick is a phenomenal film.

"We are extremely proud to celebrate this incredible achievement with Tom Cruise, our filmmakers and cast, our marketing and distribution teams, and, of course, all fans of the new and original Top Gun," Robbins said. 7/2022).

After reaching this milestone, Top Gun: Maverick has won the record for the previous studio winner, Titanic, which features an epic love story by director James Cameron. During its premiere in the late '90s, Titanic grossed $600.78 million.

"For 110 years, Paramount Pictures has produced and distributed some of the most iconic films in Hollywood history, including the all-time classic Titanic, which marks its 25th anniversary this year," Robbins said.

Surpassing the Titanic is a huge achievement, considering that theaters screened the film for nine months during its initial release. It currently holds the record for the third highest grossing film worldwide.

Love story fans will be able to see it again in theaters, as it will be re-released in honor of its 25th anniversary in February 2023, or Valentine's Day.

The success of Top Gun: Maverick at the box office has made Paramount Pictures the number one studio in domestic box office ticket sales so far in 2022, and the studio's most successful year in eight years.

Tom Cruise Gets Permission to Film Mission: Impossible 8 at Westminster Abbey

Tom Cruise has received permission to shoot the action film Mission: Impossible 8 inside the Westminster Abbey building in London, England. The 60-year-old actor is said to be very happy and excited because permits at this iconic location are very rare.

A source in Tom Cruise's circle said the actor is now in a phase of wanting to keep developing himself to be bigger and better. Literally, there is no compromise in making films except the greatest and the best.

While setting up filming for the latest installment in the Mission: Impossible film franchise, there was one scene involving the church. For Cruise, it had to be done at Westminster Abbey, which is one of Britain's most famous religious buildings.

Westminster Abbey is also famous for its importance in the realm of British tradition, because it functioned as a place for the coronation of kings and funeral ceremonies for important figures. Since the coronation of William the Conqueror in 1066, all coronations of the king of England have taken place there.

It would be a great filming location and determine how big the film will be. The budget is huge, of course, but the ambition is even bigger," the source said.

Other information from the same source stated that Cruise with the crew and director Chris McQuarrie were already preparing to go there. They are very passionate about making new works, especially Cruise recently had great success with Top Gun: Maverick.
