Zeus 'Thor: Love And Thunder' Russell Crowe reaps criticism

Although it received a good reception at the box office, "Thor: Love and Thunder" was also not free from criticism. Some fans seem dissatisfied with the film's portrayal of Zeus, played by Russell Crowe.

Zeus is the leader of the gods whom Thor approaches to ask for help against Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale). For fans, however, the portrayal of Zeus in the film is far more cowardly and ugly than any other version of Zeus ever seen in fiction. Zeus in this film acts as an antagonist to the heroes.

A number of people took to social media to criticize the way director and co-writer Taika Waititi presented the Marvel Cinematic Universe's incarnation of the mythological Greek god. There are also those who compare Zeus Crowe with the director's version of Zack Snyder.

"The way they handled Zeus in Love and Thunder ... It was a very unfunny and boring scene," said one fan. "Zeus SnyderVerse vs MCU Zeus. They really made it worse than a joke," continued another.

"It's hard to pick the 'worst' moments from Thor: Love and Thunder," said another. "But I thought I'd go for the scene where Russell Crowe wears a Greek accent to play Zeus, implicitly castrated because he's fat and wears a skirt."

However, there are also those who praise that Zeus Waititi's depiction is more accurate. Many insist that Zeus, as depicted in actual Greek mythology, is more like the version in "Thor: Love and Thunder".

"I think Snyder fans praising badass Zeus is pretty funny when he's actually more accurate for Greek Mythology when he's a lazy bum like in Thor," one fan said. "Zeus who cares more about debauchery than saving the universe officially makes Zeus from Marvel the most accurate depiction," said another.

Make Profits Over the Weekend, This Is Fantastic Budget 'Thor: Love And Thunder'

After a long wait, fans can finally watch "Thor: Love and Thunder" release in theaters. The film received a very positive response at the box office with a tantalizing income.

"Thor: Love and Thunder" has grossed a total of $290 million during its global opening weekend. That includes 135 million US dollars at the domestic box office.

But apparently, this is not surprising considering the budget used to produce the film is also not small. According to Variety, Marvel Studios is producing a fourth Thor film with a budget of $250 million.

Despite its sizeable budget, "Thor: Love and Thunder" received very mixed reviews from critics and fans alike. Rotten Tomatoes' film score is among the lowest in the MCU.

In "Thor: Love and Thunder", Thor embarks on a journey he has never experienced before, he wants to find inner peace. However, his peaceful plans are interrupted by Gorr the God Butcher, a galaxy slayer who seeks the extinction of the gods. Thor is played by Chris Hemsworth and Gorr by Christian Bale.

Taika Waititi is directing "Thor: Love and Thunder" from a script he co-wrote with Jennifer Kaytin Robinson. The film stars, Tessa Thompson, Jaimie Alexander, Waititi, Russell Crowe, and Natalie Portman.

Meanwhile in the process, it turned out that many shooting scenes had to be cut to produce the final result. This is as explained by the star of the film, Natalie Portman. Waititi wanted to do multiple shots for each scene. This is what causes some scenes to have many alternative versions of a scene.
