Actor Dwayne Johnson Talks About Marvel And DC Character Crossovers

Actor Dwayne Johnson will soon be making his debut as Black Adam in the film of the same name. However, even though "Black Adam" hasn't debuted yet, Johnson has even talked about a far-reaching possibility, maybe even for some fans it will be very impossible.

Johnson, admits that he is an optimist. Therefore, for him, anything is possible. Especially when talking about the creative world such as filmmaking.

"I'm optimistic," Johnson told Total Film. "It's just my nature to be optimistic. And especially creatively. Especially when it comes to movies. And especially when it comes to DC's line-up of superheroes and supervillains."

Johnson sees that when on one side there are DC characters and on the other side there are Marvel characters, then the two must crossover in the future. "Across the street, we have Marvel's lineup of superheroes and supervillains. To me, not only can they exist, but they must, in my mind, cross paths someday."

The same optimism seems to be conveyed by Marvel President Kevin Feige. Feige also wouldn't rule out that possibility while speaking to Comic Book in a previous interview. When asked about his character's possible crossover with a DC character, he said, "Look, my standard answer to things is 'never say no.' I never thought we would get this far," he said.

Marvel and DC universe director James Gunn has also considered the possibility of a crossover. He also talked about the idea of getting the two studios involved to create stories of opposing characters.

"I casually spoke to the powers that be at Marvel and DC about it," Gunn said on Twitter last year. "I want that to happen. I don't think it's possible, but I also don't think it's impossible. In other words, just constantly seeing crossovers and mashups is less enchanting to me than a strong story."

Top Gun: Maverick Secret Can Beat Marvel And DC Movies

"Top Gun: Maverick" has managed to become an action film that is enthusiastically welcomed by fans. In fact, the film starring Tom Cruise is able to surpass Marvel and DC films, in terms of revenue.

Producer Jerry Bruckheimer explains why the sequel can surpass the comic books from Marvel and DC. Bruckheimer is the producer of the new "Top Gun" film, as well as the original, and has been a huge hit in Hollywood for decades. He was responsible for films such as "Beverly Hills Cop", "National Treasure", "Bad Boys", "Pirates of the Caribbean", and many more projects.

Top Gun: Maverick has been a tremendous success, which is surprising considering the 35-year gap between the original and its sequel. Directed by Joseph Kosinski and again starring Tom Cruise in the lead, "Top Gun: Maverick" recently surpassed "Avengers: Infinity War" as the sixth highest-grossing film domestically.

"Top Gun: Maverick" has also passed DC films like "Aquaman" and "The Batman" this year. In an interview with EW, Bruckheimer discussed the success of "Top Gun: Maverick" in relation to the comic books from Marvel and DC, explaining that audiences have seen a lot of CGI over the years.

"Audiences love Marvel, they love things like DC. They're beautifully crafted by incredibly talented people. Sometimes you want to see something real, and that's what Top Gun gave us," he said. "These aviators are out there protecting our country right now, flying around the world, and you ride with them. You see what they do, you see what their lives are like, and the trials and tribulations they have to go through. really experienced it with our actors."

"Top Gun: Maverick" currently sits at $683 million domestically, so it's highly likely that "Top Gun: Maverick" will stay in theaters for quite some time. And if that happens, then the film could surpass “Black Panther”, which currently sits in fifth place with 700 million. With "Avatar" sitting at 760 million.
