Elvis Becomes Second Biopic With Highest Earning Box Office

The biopic about the life of legendary musician Elvis Presley "Elvis" has received rave reviews in theaters. "Elvis" directed by Baz Luhrmann received $2 million from 68 overseas territories where the film is still showing in theaters.

This week's box office brought the film's total international views to $125 million, with a worldwide box office of $269.7 million. "Elvis" is the second highest-grossing musician biographical film in history, behind "Bohemian Rhapsody". "Bohemian Rhapsody" itself was released in 2018, which tells the life story of Freddie Mercury, the vocalist of the very talented rock group "Queen".

The film stars Rami Malek, who took home an Oscar for his role as Mercury in the film. Austin Butler's performance of Elvis, like Malek's Mercury, received much acclaim. Butler's dedication to the role extended to vocal training, work accents, and thick black hair dyed over his signature blonde hair.

Butler even sings many of Elvis' signature songs in the film, as the composer mixes his vocals with the singer's for the most authentic performance. Luhrmann is considered very suitable to pour the extraordinary life of Elvis into the film. Her penchant for intense colors, glitter, and glamor fits perfectly into the life and aesthetic of Elvis, who tends to sequined jumpsuits, bright colors, and some very stiff pompadour.

Along with Butler, the film stars Tom Hanks as the manipulative and evil artist manager Colonel Tom Parker and Olivia DeJonge as Priscilla Presley. "Elvis" was originally released to theaters in the United States on June 24, 2022, and is now available for rent on Video On Demand. The film is now available for rent on VOD services including Prime Video, Vudu, and YouTube.

Not only received a good reception from fans, "Elvis" also received comments from Priscilla, the ex-wife of the late. He recently revealed which scenes were really hard to watch and made him remember Elvis even more.

Long time no news, Owen Wilson gives update on 'Wedding Crashers 2'

Back in 2005, Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn have managed to entertain fans through "Wedding Crashers". Over the years since then, there have been many rumors of a sequel, and the cast has openly talked about returning to star in the film time and time again.

Last year, there were reports that a follow-up would go into production in the summer, but it was revealed last September that the project was falling apart due to Wilson's involvement with the "Haunted Mansion" reboot. Not much news has been released since then, but Wilson recently spoke with Extra about his new film, "Secret Headquarters", and provided a promising update on "Wedding Crashers 2".

Wilson didn't say it outright whether he read the script for "Wedding Crashers 2" or not, but he teased by saying that the director was working on a few things. "David Dobkin, the director, I think he kind of explored some ideas," Wilson said. "And it's kind of, one of those movies where we had a lot of fun doing it, and then obviously it got a really good response. So just hope if you do something it can live up to the first one."

However, this isn't the first time Wilson has teased for a sequel. Previously some time ago, while talking to Collider, he enthusiastically said that the director was working on the project. "There's a script and David Dobkin, who directed, of course, the former, has worked on it and we've talked about it and enjoyed talking to Vince," he said.

Back in 2020, Vaughn spoke with CinemaBlend and teased that a follow-up film might be in the works. "David Dobkin has a really good idea that's contemporary," Vaughn shared. According to him, working on "Wedding Crashers" gave him a different experience. If in general people work on films or sequels to gain success, but not with "Wedding Crashers".

"But what I love about Crashers is (that) there's something that feels really good right now," he said. "A lot of these comedies, even something like Wedding Crashers, you kind of delve into things that I think are real in our lives."
