Review and Synopsis of The 355 Film The Story of 5 Female Heroes Who Worked Together to Save the World

The 355 film has an interesting theme: 5 female heroes who work together to save the world. They are intelligent, attractive, and dangerous. However, is that enough to make this film interesting to watch? Featuring Jessica Chastain, Penélope Cruz, Fan Bingbing, Diane Kruger, and Lupita Nyong'o, The 355 looks promising. These actresses have undoubted acting skills. The chemistry between them is quite good. Unfortunately, the execution of this film did not live up to expectations. The 355 tells the story of two CIA agents, Mace (Jessica Chastain) and Nick (Sebastian Stan) who are assigned to recover a device that was taken away by a Colombian intelligence agent. The agent named Luis asked for USD 3 million to be exchanged for the device with an exchange location in Paris.

Mace and Nick disguise themselves as a newlywed couple on their honeymoon. However, the mission fails due to the presence of Marie (Diane Kruger), a German BND agent, who also wants to get the device. Luis ran away and returned to his hotel. At the hotel, he is met by his therapist, Graciela (Penelope Cruz), who seduces him to return to Colombia. Mace then goes to meet his friend, Khadijah (Lupita Nyong'o), a former M16 agent, in London. Khadijah agrees to help Mace and they go to Paris to snatch the device from Luis. However, the mission failed after Luis was killed and the device was taken away by other people who were also after the object.

The four women finally agreed to work together to reclaim the device. The twist continues until they meet an MSS agent named Lin Min Seng (Fan Bingbing). The five women continued to try to snatch the device from the wrong people's hands. It must be admitted, the action shown in the film made by Simon Kinberg is quite exciting. Unfortunately, the plot feels like a roller coaster. Up, down, up, down, like it's endless. This film has many climaxes with a clear conclusion in each climax. But, for some reason, it felt extended. The story is so awsome. In fact, with a series of big stars in it, this film should get a better and more decent plot treatment.

Moreover, the chemistry between the players, except for Fan Bingbing, is quite well established. The problem with Fan's character is that he comes across as a rigid Chinese agent. He had no emotions and seemed to be made that way. So, his chemistry with other players is not visible. He's also the weirdest of them all, though, he's the key to solving the film's problems. The 355, though star-studded, is a film that feels dull. The exciting action scenes can't help make this film better because of the poor execution of the plot. The fluctuating plot makes this film feel like watching a 13-episode series with one 50-minute episode condensed into 124 minutes, or 2 hours 4 minutes.

In fact, it must be admitted, the idea to display these 5 female heroes is very interesting. It is very rare for a film to show a row of tough women as the heroes in a team. Moreover, these five women have characteristics and abilities that complement each other. It could be a franchise in the future if it is done well. Unfortunately, because the plot is shallow and the story development is running in place, The 355 is no longer interesting.

The number 355 is the code for a female spy agency during the American Revolution. She was the first female agent and her identity was never known. This is certainly different from what happened in the film. The identities of these women are widely known and they work together as a team, not a single person. Even if each is considered a spy like 355, their character's story arc still has a lot of holes. The 355 was a disappointment. This film does not deliver what one would expect from a spy film, as the title suggests. His execution is less kicking to make it blunt. So, watch it at your own risk.
