Ming-Na Wen and Esai Morales Join Director Jeffrey Morris's Persephone Movie

Two new stars have joined Jeffrey Morris's upcoming film Persephone. Ming-Na Wen (The Book of Boba Fett) and Esai Morales (Titans) will star in the film alongside Deadpool star Brianna Hildebrand. Deadline reports that they have joined forces with a sci-fi thriller that will tell the story of a group of refugees escaping from a dying Earth on a spaceship known as the Odyssey.




They aim to reach a planet orbiting a nearby star called Proxima B. When the crew is sent to repair a shield designed to protect their colony from a deadly solar flare, a computer malfunction causes them to land on an alien planet. The crew later discovers that they may not be the only ones living in this hostile world. A mystery is revealed that may not only thwart their mission, but also prevent the group of colonists from setting foot on the planet.

The film marks Morris' feature film debut, having previously written and directed two short films Parallel Man: Infinite Pursuit and Oceanus: Act One in 2014 and 2015. He also wrote the script for Persephone and also co-wrote the companion novel with author Kevin J. Anderson, who will also serve as executive producer.


Ming-Na Wen has just played the role of bounty hunter Fennec Shand in the live-action Star Wars: The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett and animated The Bad Batch. He will reprise his role in the second season of The Book of Boba Fett. He also appeared in Parallel Man: Infinite Pursuit, so it makes sense that he would once again team up with Morris on the project.

Wen was previously well known for voicing Mulan in the 1998 animated film and playing Chun-Li in the live action film Street Fighter in 1994. He has also been involved in Ralph Breaks the Internet, Yasuke, and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and will appear in the second season of the series. HBO Max's Hacks and animated series, Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai, and the films Glitter & Doom.


While Esai Morales has previously been involved in the TV series Jericho, How to Get Away with Murder, Titans, and the Ozark. Morales' upcoming project is Paul Schrader's thriller Master Gardener. He will also appear in the upcoming Mission: Impossible: Dead Reckoning- Part One and its sequels as well as the films Když prší slzy (2022) and Ženy a ivot (2022).

And Brianna Hildebrand herself is best known for her role as Negasonic Teenage Warhead in two Deadpool films, as well as appearing in films such as Playing with Fire, Tragedy Girls and First Girl I Loved.
